This thread needs a resurrection. Specifically, a meaty, soupy resurrection.
Kazzerax's Lentil Soup

Left to right top to bottom:
Carrots, boneless chicken breasts, smoked sausage, green peas, corn, potatoes, onion, jalapenos, lentils. Celery is not pictured.

Of course you're going to want to start up your NewsReal broadcast to keep your informed while you cook.

Cut up the carrots about this big.

Potatoes like this.

Celery.

Onion.

Cut the smoke sausage in half lengthwise then slice, or slice and cut the slices in half, up to you.

Line your pot with olive oil.

Put in the sausage and turn on the heat.

While the sausage fries up a bit, cut your chicken breast into chunks like this.

Drain your lentils.

When your veggies and chicken are all cut (I used a food processor for the jalapenos after removing the seeds), put water in the pot and wait til it boils.

Then put it everything else and keep the heat max til it boils again.

Let it boil for around an hour while waiting like a jackass wishing you could eat the smells.

Butter your bread.

Add black pepper to your bowl to taste.

Delicious.
Before removing the soup from the pot I added a shit load of black pepper, garlic powder, oregano, basil, thyme, and hot sauce. Parmesean cheese also goes well in the bowl but don't add it to the pot or the fat will rise when you put it in the fridge. I've included shrimp before also but it tends to texture a bit odd when you cook it like this. I didn't end up using the corn or peas because I ran out of room in my pot, they go in there very well.
