Interesting post here: http://www.p2pconsortium.com/index.php?showtopic=15274 on how the (european) RIAA has little to offer on their position that file sharing is theft, other than their current legal position.

In short, they are facing a battle of perception against a country (Sweden) which seems poised to actually put the question of the legal status of filesharing to a vote, and they have no argument to forward as to why they SHOULD have those rights. Some other fantastic insights from the leader of the "Pirate Party" in Sweden as well.

Thanks for that Enki. Even if Sweden vote to decriminalize file sharing they will just have so much pressure from American government (and probably most of Europe too) to comply with their own law enforcements or lose support of the west. Case in hand, America are currently demanding that Russia create a strict law with regards to file sharing. Proof already (if it were needed) that big corporations practically run government politics. The big brother state is creeping ever closer and people need to be educated about this situation and fast!

I live in Sweden and have seen this country's laws go to shit the last couple of years. First came the laws about reverse engineering and in 2006 they passed anti-piracy laws wich made over 1/9 of the population criminals.

All hail the fucking corporate state of Sweden where the politics sell out for nothing. Our politicians really pushed the EU-laws that said companies have to store all info about cellphone and datatransfer activity for a year(I think it was a year) and giving the FBI full access when ever they wanted. So much for the EU becoming a superpower to balance out the US.

Sorry to hear that Swedens laws are tightening up. It has always been a beacon of hope for rights, freedoms and dam fine people.

I suppose the reach of the silly corporates is reaching far these days. I wonder if that will ever change. Big business always pushes until it gets what it wants doesnt it.

Maybe future religions wont be god vs devil, or light vs dark but will be humanity vs corporations. And they will make movies about it. Hopefully then we can all sit back and laugh about it.

Just not now.

Thanks Enki for the posts.  How is Canada on the war-on-ideas? (yeah, had to come up with some thing so close to the truth of what the US is doing.)
