While we're on the subject, how is RR being broadcast into New Wasteland? Hearing about that just blew my mind. Pretty damn cyberpunk.

It was fun and I thank everyone for everything they have done.

Yeah, I am ready to give up on embedding video as it doesn't seem to be working the last few days. Here are the links http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=754861163458414287&q=tent&ei=nI4LSK8ngYyuAqLWuaIE http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8185424778088916271&q=tent&ei=nI4LSK8ngYyuAqLWuaIE
I think there is an update to Flash that has to be installed for the video to work as well.

New Wasteland, I like that name, it just "sticks" so good. Sadly, I think the population of New Wasteland will get bigger before it gets smaller.

We had a tent city here in edmonton, ab awhile ago. it was bizarre, most people in the wasteland here were regular working people, who just couldn't find a home. it grew to nearly 1000 people. the cops would come and force everyone to pack up and leave, but since there was no where to go, eventually everyone would be gathered not far away in another open area. Eventually some new housing projects and such were built, and most of them found homes or left the city. It was a huge issue here.

@CyburNetiks
That reminds me of the stories I keep hearing from Palestinians in Israel. One would think that a 1000 people would be able to organize something productive...

Never heard of the Palestinian issues, should look into that. But i can see where that would be coming from, since they were forced out of their homes to make way for israel. In my opinion the reason why the people never got organised, is they all were living under the assumption that their predicament was temporary. And while most may have been right, that would be a little too close for comfort for me. Reminds me of all the stories about tent cities in central park during the 30's. Things will get worse before they get any better

I can't speak to the Palestinian issue (and don't want to), but as far as 1000 people organizing into something productive, it really depends on the people. A lot of people (especially in places like the US where we enjoy a high standard of living) have a strange sense of entitlement, like if they end up in a bad situation due to circumstances beyond their control, they shouldn't have to be responsible for pulling themselves out of it.

Valekhi: I think their has been so many years of lack of responsibility in the US culture that it breeds such contempt, mememe and ME first.. Do you think that might be possible that this could be turned around?
With the Palestinians, I say the faster the US stops supporting that whole mess and forces each side to finally deal with it instead of us just sitting there and supporting the waring sides, there might be half a chance it might get sorted out. But alas, our amourments division of corportco will never allow any nation to finally say they have had enough.
Can I sell you a museum F-4 Phantom as I read recently in a newspaper from a junk plane seller to a museum.

Probably. More and more people are realizing where our society is going and starting to make changes in their own lives. That's an important step. And if a situation was large enough and effected enough people, I think that most of those people would realize that it's up to them to get the ball rolling to pull themselves out of it.
While I agree that the US taking sides in that conflict isn't a good idea, I doubt that our involvement or lack thereof would really have much of an effect on the longevity of that fight. Only two things I can think of will bring lasting resolution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict: the victory of one side via the virtual annihilation of the other side, or unconditional forgiveness on both sides. I think we can all agree on which one is more likely, and neither one is likely to happen anytime soon I'd wager. Can I sell you a museum F-4 Phantom as I read recently in a newspaper from a junk plane seller to a museum.
Huh?
