EMR
« on: November 12, 2008, 07:10:21 PM »

I just passed my EMR examinations  Grin Grin Grin

EMR is "Emergency Medical Responder" and is roughly equal to EMT-B in the states

It was tense, because I opted for the "short, hard, and fast" course. Was fun, but won't be doing that again.

Now to save up my money and go on to EMT in the spring.

Congrats on passing the exam! That's fabulous. You have every right to be proud of yourself.

I wish you all the best with your upcoming training as well. You'll be an asset to whatever agency or company is lucky enough to get you.

Thanks all. In my city, we only have advanced life support ambulances, So it'll be awhile before I get on an ambulance crew. But with any luck, I'll be doing band-aid patrol at some local sports games and special events.

Congratulations Scott.

Dude, wrong guy. If I recall Scott's been an EMT-B for awhile. My name's Ryan, by the way.

scott is actually an EMT-P....one step above EMT-B and 2 above EMR...the next step above that is Nurse, and above that a Doctor

I thought EMT-I was one step above EMT-B?  Correct me if i'm wrong but heres How I thought it went:

USA:  EMT-B ->  EMT-I  ->  EMT-P
Canada:  EMR -> EMT-A -> EMT-P

That's the impression I was getting anyways.

Edit: I also realize that there may be a 'EMR' classification in  the states, up here EMR is roughly equal to EMT-B (we even use EMT-B textbooks) and is the lowest classification you can be to work on an ambulance crew. Anything below that would be considered "first aider" or "advanced first aider" depending on level of training.

Edit2: this would technically make me an 'advanced first aider" since I haven't actually gotten my Provincial certification yet. But I'll be an EMR soon enough.

You are correct...my system doesnt really use EMT-I...so I forgot that it even exists...I guess coming home after an extra long day at work didnt help any Tongue

Yeah, those classifications are the national system. I gotta go get my EMT-A before I can work on an ambulance crew, because for some reason my city has advanced life support units only. That or I could move to a small town and join their ambulance service, but I plan on getting EMT-A anyways so meh.
