Actually, the only thing I'm going to need is a address... I'm about to get me a few maps (Vancouver and BC, for my GPS), furthermore, I think, this will go to be a great day next year

If anyone has built any cool (non-lethal) tech, they should bring it along. I would love to see some of the Wogs get their geek on.

Definitely, bringing tech/laptops/robots/cool stuff is encouraged! Very good idea.
It goes without saying to not bring anything illegal for your own safety and ours.

The likelyhood is high at this point that i will be able to come. I also plan to be there sometime in august (I have a gamer friend who is going to a tournament in vancouver, i plan to come with him and take a mini-vacation while i'm at it) so I should have an idea of where i'm going and the transit time required when the rantmeet rolls around. Also, robots, i must build them

For those of us who will be traveling (I'm coming from Midwest, USA) we'll need to figure out some sort of accommodations.
What's in the area, and what kind of weather can we expect?
Being January, and north of me, I expect it to not be great camping weather - but I might be wrong, being on the coast and all. If its decent, but cold, perhaps bikes would be a good idea. *shrugs*
I'm thinking we should do some road-tripping, and have a chance to discuss ahead of time. Either via car, train, bus - I'm thinking some means other than airplane (due to an interest in using more efficient modes of transport, plus less restrictions on cargo). Plus, we could then head down to Las Vegas afterwards if we wanted to attend CES - we'd have to be members of the media or the industry - either of which should be relatively easy to set up ahead of time.
Once we get the Wiki up we could definitely start documenting plans, groups heading out, etc.

Yea, it would be great to get some sort of approximate cost put together for those of us that would have to travel a long distance. I would like to go and use this as an excuse to finally visit Canada, but I don't know the feasibility of it yet.

For those travelling I'm sure there will be some Ranters that live in Vancouver that will step up to the task of putting up with some out of towners for a couple of days during the event!

I'm already making plans to go...I'll probably just drive, it will give me a nice chance to check out some sites. About a 20 hour drive, figure I can split it into two days. Stay the weekend, come back Monday. I'll bring my gear...I'll bring some cool gadgets I've been working on too. Anyone else coming from the LA area, or on the way there? maybe we can split gas money or something. Hey, Cimm...you know those Burning Man episodes, will you be letting your friends barrow them at the Anniversary Gathering?

I'd like to go. I shouldn't have school around that time, and hopefully I'll have money. Long way to go from Southern California, I'll have to figure some means of transportation. Anyone else coming from the LA area, or on the way there? maybe we can split gas money or something. Do you mean LA California or Louisiana?

Well I'm up by Lancaster, so I guess I'm on the way to Vancouver from LA. I could pitch in some gas money; how much you think you'd need?
