Was planning leaving on the 30th and coming back on the 5th of January but it is still pretty fluid. Need to secure the funds first before any of this goes ahead for me.
As for accommodation, I suggest a hostel. Pretty cheap, usually under £20 a night. Granted, it's not exactly gonna be the Hilton but for what you pay for (shelter and a bed) it shouldn't be too bad.

No, I was planning on staying for at least 2 weeks (can't stay longer, because of work, and my girlfriends study), so I want to stay in a hotel or other cheap accomodations.. but we both want to stay in a hostel, for 2 weeks.
Why do I want to stay this long? because it's our first time outside Europe, so I want to take my time to look around in Vancouver, or a little BC.

My mate and I are staying at the Comfort Inn Downtown in Vancouver. We paid $948 Australian Dollars for 16 nights with a free continental breakfast each morning. Pretty damn good deal if you ask me!

Am up for that, man - anyway, we can always entertain ourselves, food wise in canadian diners.

I just went to one of my travel-agencies (I know, internet is cheaper, but an old classmate of mine works here), and I think I won't fly over Heathrow... it'll cost me EUR 988,56 (British Airways) or EUR 877,98 (Air Canada). If I fly over Chicago it'll cost me EUR 742,70 = USD 1.148,62 (Lufthansa), all of these prices include all taxes and are per person (in my case 2, on my expense woman...) As for the hotel; I've found a place to crash in the Vancouver Budget Hotel (Patricia Inn) for CAD39 per night. Don't expect too much for a place that cheap, but it's a place to sleep...

Just a little update (glad I didn't book the flight yet...) I got a hint, from one of my customers, I could fly cheaper, if I use airmiles... but I don't have airmiles... but my dad does...
Long things short; I can book a flight; KLM direct, for just EUR350 per person, when I pay the rest with airmiles... my dad saves airmiles since 1991 (or something like that) and never used any of them, I checked, way enough for me and my girlfriend... so... I'll book my flight in july (the airmiles site goes till november today, but I called, and if KLM flies in december and january, I can get this discount) and I already called the hotel, wich is already booked!
Hope to be in Vancouver soon!

You can check out historical temperatures on this page: http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/CYVR/2007/1/3/DailyHistory.html?req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NAAs you can see, it's not super cold. On average from 0C to 4C (32F-40F), but definitely bring a jacket. We rarely get any lasting snow in Vancouver but there could be some on the ground. It usually is more rainy during the winter than snowy. strange question...what sot of temperatures should we be expecting?
