If we can get come sort of connection to the 'net from the theatre for the 10th Anniversary on January 3, 2009, I'd love to have Second Life put up on the big screen behind us if it's not too distracting. :-) That way, for people who unfortunately can't make it to the big event, they can virtually be there. :-)

BTW the Second Life location of Hunker Downs is:

Node = Marcell / Coordinates 230,119,94 / World Group Search: Rant Media Voice.

Since you can stream video into Secondlife it would be interesting to set up a "window" arangement. Have a video stream in of the party, and a monitor out showing SL. Lock the camera possitions and it really could get a "window to another world" effect.

I think the nice thing is, you can actually hear each other talking, except for the guy with the malfunctioning microphone Tongue
I've been there for 3 days now, since I heard about it on NR.. I've already had an SL avatar, so I could join immediately, very cool place, nice talking to all the guys, only problem to me is the time-zone-difference (from the Netherlands)..

I look forward to meet more people, in Second Life! (Mormel Mayo in SL)

I think I'll take my headset with me in my bag, so I can talk later on tonight

Yeah, the only thing I heard about that stream, was a time difference of 10sec.. at least, so I heard... So that will make a conversation a little bit hard..

Baldtraveller sent me this great list of video tutorials on how to use SL, for all those having problems with it.

I'm wondering why my avatar is female even though I clicked on male.. Oh well.. So.. how do I get Hunker Downs? I don't have the time right now to get things customized yet but maybe I can do that afterwards, I don't know how this works.. I'm confused.. I'm a n00b.

Well go through the beginning crap on n00b island, where you'll learn how to move around and stuff. After that you can leave through the castle, where there should be an exit door. Once off of n00b island you can warp to the node. I'm currently outside of Hunker Down's, building my canoe.

Ok that was a fairly frustrating experience...   My internet connection seems to be too slow, which gave me lagtime and aggravation,  the thing made me into a naked girl (I'm neither) and dropped me off at a small island full of other scantly clad people bumping into each other and trying to figure things out.

I will say that it looks as if it could be a cool experience indeed (not to mention a great initiative by the owner/builder) if one has adequate gear and some flying hours with the thing.  The same is true for most worthwile things, incidentally .

workable headset
