If you were the five year old version of yourself, would you kick your own ass for what you have grown into?
I sure would, not for who I am, but for the work I do. I wanted to make video games. I was five in 1976 and I played Space Invaders for the first time at a pizza joint in California.
When you were five, what did you want to do?

When I was five I glorified all the old war movies, and I wanted to become Paton's successor. Yeah, my five year old self would whip me for becoming a panzy by my old standards.

I don't think I would. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
The only aspiration I could imagine I had at the time was to understand the world, which I must say that I do a little better now.

I'm pretty sure that I would, just because the five year old version of myself is a mean little bastard.
Anyhow, I don't think that I'd be disappointed with me. I never really knew what I wanted to do, and I still really don't as far as a career goes. I just know that I want to be a good person that can take care of any situation that is set in front of him. I think the younger me would be proud of that.

I wanted to be an inventor and Batman...I got the inventor thing close enough by becoming an engineer but still working on the Batman thing. I also wanted to touch a boobie one day...I'll let you guys know when that happens

LOL, awesome responses.
I too wanted to be an inventor and without actually knowing how one becomes one, I would say that I still go in that direction. Perhaps there is some kind of connection and people who lean towards wog-ism also lean towards invention. Worth further investigation?

Five year old me would either say 'Why the hell aren't you in space yet?!??" or nothing, because i was a huge introvert when i was younger.

Back then it was scientist (the mad kind) and mostly for the theatrics. I'm pretty sure I could take my five year old self in a fight though.

When I was five years old I wanted to be a fighter pilot or inventor. But when I got my first pc some 7 years later, and saw what miracles it could do (I only played flight simulators) so I wanted to work with them instead. The five-year-old-me would probably kick my arse because I do not do enough real world programming, eg. robots, but mostly "boring" PC programs.
Btw we seem to have a handfull of latent inventors here. It would be nice to see some projects emerge from this.
