This is pretty cool but a little on the expensive side. Those who know the benefits of it would find the price acceptable.

Coupled with a solar panel you have a pretty good setup and can get rid of all those 5gal bottles.

Great idea for the outdoor, off the grid application or when SHTF if you still have a working generator or electrical generating appliance.

According to the web site it says that it generates around 7 gallons per day and the electricity off the grid is about one dollar per day.  Or a cost of 10 to 20 cents per gallon of water generated.
Wonder if this could have 3rd world applications?

I really like the ecolablue concept, but it seems to require a lot of electricity, I could be wrong there though.. Is there any chance anyone has figured out how to DIY this and build their own?

I was checking out the run down of how it works and it doesn't really seem complicated.

Following this link: http://www.ecoloblue.com/files/EcoloBlue28_Flyer_sm.pdf I got the flow chart.

The air condenser is supposed to work just like your air conditioner and I know from experience that my air conditioner is always full of water, so the tech is not new it would seem. The rest is just storage tanks and UV lights. In a pinch I could hook that up to a filter... or several filters, and a UV light. Maybe save some money.

That would be perfect for humid environments where the water table is low, and drilling for water is not cost-effective.

I don't see it being quite as useful in dry, arid environments.

But I could be wrong.   Has anyone done a study on how climatic conditions affect the output?

Yeah, I think the difference was between 3 and 7 gallons a day. There are places in the house that have a lot of moisture, such as the bathroom and kitchen. Those places would be ideal for one of these.
