Didn't want to put this Patrolling because this knife is 100% NON FUNCTIONAL. Well, the blades are probably sharpened, but with a $50,000US-$70,000 price tag, I'd never let it leave the cardboard box that it comes in when UPS Brings it to my door.

Based on the 74mm Executive-type Victorinox army knife, the shells are made of pure platinum 950 (or 24K gold), inset lengthwise with 430 flawless diamonds according to IF-VVS standards, Wesselton top, with a total weight of about 4 carats.

With the exception of the tweezers, all tools are ornately adorned with diamond engraving. Serial number engraved on the blade. Inclusive solid platinum or gold chain and exclusive Bonfort case.
PRODUCT DETAILS

    * Large Blade
    * Small Blade
    * Nail File and Nail Cleaner
    * Scissors
    * Orange-Peeler with Screwdriver
    * Ring
    * Tweezers

Ok that is one of the stupidist things I've ever seen. Now there's some leeway for form over function but this just takes it too far. Who would spend that much money on a swiss army knife?

Well the people who buy this are definitely not the kind of people who'll buy a useful knife so if they want to spend the cash it'll be like all the other flashy stuff super rich people buy.

It still looks neat though.

Weird, useless overprices stuff. The TP would be cool to a degree but in the end you wipe your ass with it. Only a sudoku addict would have use for that TP.

As for the knife, there is probably $50-$100 worth of materials and labor in that knife. The rest is name.

I found it for $70 and that was from the Kabar website. Obay has it for $60... but I really do like it. I guess compared to the $700 cold steel model it is a bargain.

EH, I don't personally care for Kabar (unless it is a vintage marine knife, those are cool) and I have never heard of Maxam. But I have to admit, I am a knife snob. I worked at a knife shop for about 4 years when I was in HS & College, learned how to make knives, leather working etc etc.

As far as a big blade chopper goes, I keep a Cold Steal Magnum Kukri in my truck:
http://www.coldsteel.com/97kms.html

$30 isn't too bad and I'd be willing to bed money that the steel is not only higher quality than the 3 Maxam's but also is heat treated better. But, like I said, I am a knife snob.

Speaking of, I noticed you don't have any knives up at PrepHQ.  You planning on selling home-made knives?

It would be cool if you sold blanks or something, like Atlanta Cutlery does for Wogs to make their own knives, or at least customize their own kit-knives.  Just a thought...

I personally would speak well of MAXAM knives.  I have two, like I said, which I have had for years.  The big hunter seen above was a gift that I thought was kinda cheesy.  (It does look kinda cheap I'll admit.)  I started using this knife whenever I didn't want to damage my good knife or if I was going where I thought I might loose it.  Before I knew it, I was using this knife exclusively.  Five years of abusing it like the cheap, ugly knife it is, and it is still in pretty good shape.  None of that slightly bent point nonsense you expect from cheaper knives.

That being said, the multi-tool isn't the best.  While it is very useful, the blades seem weak and don't keep an edge worth a damn.  The thing cost me all of $5 at a traveling knife booth though, so I guess it doesn't matter really.  Still gets plenty of action as my daily carry knife.
