Plant it- sow it- brew it- grow it!

Hey. I'm new to the forum. Wanted to begin by forwarding some info and stuff in the works: Just finished making a small rocket-stove out of an old paint can, stovepipe elbow, some ashes and a coathanger. It boils 1 gal water in about 2 minutes using nothing but sticks from the forest floor. It is the prototype for a large one capable of rapidly boiling 5 gals, with my purpose of brewing beer with no mainstream fuel.

Good to see you took the advise! Also, nice shots. Can't wait to see the little bugger in action.

You're going to have to show me how to build that. Looks like it could come in handy!

Vavrek (http://vavrek.com) made a video awhile back which teaches and shows how to make one of these:

THERE is Vavrek's vid! I looked for that thing for an hour- didn't know how to spell his damn name I guess.
I was going to follow some of his specs for the big one I am making. The paint can proto is quaint, and works well, but needs abit more height of stack above the elbow to create more draw.
I saw the paint can in the shed, and thought: I'm makin the first one out of this because it's shit everybody has lying around.
WOG-OUT.

Yeah, weblife.org I think and vavrek.com

Just FYI, you can't use dirt to insulate it. I melted my finger prints off doing it that way.

Yeah, unfortunately they grew back. I felt the can to see if it was hot and it wasn't so after about a minute I wanted to move it, I assumed it was the same, it wasn't.  Shocked

Sweet, that is a good idea.  You can go through a lot of propane making beer, I can see where this would be very useful.  When you get the big one made, please post pics and info on it, very curious to see how it works.

@FireMissionary, thanks for posting Vavreks vid, that was very good.  His wife is a good camera woman.  The outtake at the end was funny.  Great info and great instruction.

Vav seems to be busy with work and life stuff. He occasionally updates his weblog (http://vavrek.com/journal.html). I'm sure he will be back a some point.

Here is another project in the works- attempting to expand our winter crops this year (lettuce, spinach, greens, etc.) into late JANUARY, if possible utilizing a geodesic greenhouse constructed of reclaimed materials. UV plastic goes up tomorrow... more pics to follow...

Hey man, that is awesome. Good work there. Are you going to elevate the base soil to keep it warmer?
