I kind of do like that idea but how would you put it into action? Maybe with webcams and Asterisk, Ekiga, or some other voip software?

For pre-recorded you could probably find software that will record your webcam, many times it is included when you buy it.

For live streaming webcams you could use MeBeam or Stickam.

For live audio chats with multiple people all over the world, cross atlantic, etc. I suggest Ventrilo or TeamSpeak.

Online conferencing like DimDim might be to your liking as well.. Adobe also had their own system but they sold it, I'm not sure what it's called now.

Second Life is an option to consider.

Second Life is an option to consider.

Not for people without broadband, it isn't >.>

I think that using a medium such as Second Life is a bit too distracting. I think Stickam would be a better choice as you can do both audio or video.

Second Life is an option to consider.

Funny, because I just built the University of Epic Proportions in SL.

But as others mentioned, I don't think it reaches a wide enough audience, because to use it at all, you need broadband, and to use it effectively, you need a hell of a good rig, headphones, mic, and some practice in SL.

I would like to see stuff like that done IN SL, but not use SL as the primary platform.
