I have a couple of radio shows that are recorded sproadically, with a view to putting it on a shoutcast server at some point.

The shows broadly follow the SKTFM format, but with an emphasis on the UK. We've so far produced 15 shows, and have steadily been getting a better and tighter format and recording method.

We could really use some constructive criticism on how we're doing, and the only people whom I'd care to get that criticism are rant fans. The shows cover news and have music from, as yet, unsigned bands (all have graciously granted permission for use of their material) and have some sort of discussions of relevant topics.

I would be grateful for any feedback you guys care to give.

The shows are available from two sources:

My site - http://r4nger5.homelinux.org/ - then go to the radio section - the two shows in question are r4nger5 radio and 10n3 r4ngers

Alternatively, you can go to the Internet archive : http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=r4nger5

Generally, I'd say tthat the later episodes are better, but I'll leave the opinions to you guys. Please let me know what you think.

Rgds

I'm about halfway through episode 9, so far I'm liking it. you speak slow enough to be understandable, and fast enough not to be boring. You don't have dead air, and you sound like you know what you are doing, you aren't saying 'uhh' almost at all. levels are for the most part, ideal, and you can keep my interest for more than a couple minutes at a time. one little nitpick, at the beginning, the background music was loud enough to make you difficult to understand at times but it balanced out quickly. Overall, quality. probably better quality than most show i hear on am or fm stations.

Thanks, man!

I really appreciate you taking a look. Glad to hear you like the show. Outside of people I know, I don't get a whole lot of feedback, positive, or otherwise.

Incidentally, does anyone know how one goes about getting a show onto Rant?

Just started listening (on ep2 at the moment), and so far so good!

As for getting on Rant:

"Become a DJ: If you have the gift of gab or know how to pick out just the right punk or industrial music, we want you on the air! Contact Smokehouse, the program director at smokehouse@rantradio.com" (from the FAQ page)

Hey, just started listening to your show, good to hear an english accent speaking about some REAL issues! been following Rant for a year or two and thought it was the only source for honesty in media. Thought the UK was absent of rational thought. looking forward to more  Grin

Thanks, man!

I've got some really good feedback, recently, and downloads have skyrocketed! Thanks to everyone who has taken the time out to listen. BTW the latest episode(11) shows what can happen if you guest presenters can't deal with the idea of listeners. It's pretty funny, if you like sarcasm.

Great show! Very good work on the latest episode. About the fibre optic broadband in the UK via the sewer system... what is the source of this information, I had a scout around but couldn't find anything about it. I'm actually moving to the Ukraine in two weeks so I'm not looking to get it in a rush but I'll be back in a year or two so hopefully it will be easy for anyone to get fibre optic service by then. (I can't even get cable in my area at the moment) I remember a story run by Google one time about fibre optics running though the sewers; it was an April fool’s joke though.  Lips sealed

I think it's real. It was on the BBC news page.

You total star! Wow. I really appreciate all the herlp, man! Where do you find the time.

Unless there is a small army of stunt-cimms, ready to go where the real one can't.

Is it like being the Phantom? LOL

Thanks, again. You've earned the eternal gratitude of all on the r4nger5 team. We'll add your picture the the small but growing shrine on the studio wall (along with John Peel and Soccergirl).
