It was liked and there's a lot of good stuff in it, but it's set in the present day and not in the Afternow and so is not canon.

BLASPHEMY !!!  Joking.  I don't know if I liked it more, but I have to say it did provoke some strong emotions when I was listening to it.  I thought some of them were slow, but the story itself was very cool.  The episodes later in the series was just kick ass, at times sending chills down my spine.  The series as a whole stand strong on their own, and if I don't think it gets enough credit.  If you have not listened to it, I would suggest it.  Some parts do get slow, but I think overall the story is very enjoyable.

Here is my understanding of TWHC. Mind you, the reality might have been far different, but I'm sticking to this for now. :-P

We, the unsated TFTA fans, were rabid for more TFTA.. anything TFTA.  DEAR SERVER! MORE MORE MORE!!
*ahem* sorry.

SeanK said something to the effect of: "I've got this concept, but .."

Before he could finish, we (the rabid) replied with a resounding scream "GIVE IT TO US!!! ZOMG TFTA!! WE KNEW YOU WERE HOLDING OUT ON US YOU BASTARD!!" *RAMPAGE*

Seank: "but.. umm.. Ok..."

So it was released.  Many people liked it (I did! Wow!).  Some people didn't so much, and there may have been some "OMG! WHAT DID YOU DO TO TFTA!!!" *hand-staple-forehead*  As the rather fanatical are sometimes want to do.  (not that there's anything wrong with that.)  Grin

It was later renamed to the Witch Hunter Chronicles, for reasons that I'm not privy (aside from it not being in the original timeline, a different concept, and some griping from the masses).  Those of us rabid TFTA fans went back to our TFTA Shrines, wearing our TFTA shirts, and re-listening to all the episodes.. over. and over. and over.
(Along with getting nervous anytime any news from Asia sounded like there was the chance for war to start.)

Anywho.. that's my take on the whole thing.  I could be completely wrong on all of it, which is fine.  Cheesy

Don't worry, for the rabid Afternow fans, there's a ALL NEW Afternow Graphic novel being actively worked on right now. I've read the script and it's good, damn good.

Also there will be more coming along the lines of the Witchhunter Chronicles  for those who loved 'Season III'

I love TFTA, especially Season II (but then again, who doesn't?). But TWHC struck a chord with me, I really enjoyed it. I'm definitely looking forward to further installments in TFTA and TWHC.

Regarding TWHC not being regarded as canon, I know that it is not set it the same time as the first two seasons but when people say it isnt canon does that mean that it is not the same Independant Librarian Sean Kennedy in all three seasons?  It was my understanding while listening that they where the same character in all three and that the events in TWHC preceded the first two seasons and that, if SK VI hadnt lost a lot of his older memories he could recount those actual events.  To me that seams like it is still 'canon' and in the same timeline just on an earlier part of it.

Sorry if this seems like nit-picking semantics but the idea I get when I read here that TWHC is not canon or int the TFTA timeline is that it would branch of into its own future rather than that set in the first two series.

I thought WHC was fantastic.  It gave some ideas for a radio show as well (that have yet to materialize).

See the thing is...

the Afternow was a limited run. Its a story designed to make you want more, to lay the groundwork for ideas.

Like pretty much everything rant does, its designed to mak you think.

But, the funny thing is, I always used to rip on Clive Barker because he wanted to be a fantasy writer, when his real gift (IMHO) was horror.

...and yet here I am, wanting to be a horror writer, but everyone wants my science fiction.

The WHC were an attempt to take Tales From The Afternow and make them more like the twilight zone, or tales from the darkside. But folks didn't like them that much, and the fans wanted more Afternow.

Having never really known HOW to handle fans, I just do what I can and give it to folks who might like it.  It's a huge compliment, that people would even care enough to argue about genre and all that.

Afternow, like any fiction, belongs to the fans. They give it life.

...So i guess I'll let the fans sort out witch section the stories go into.

But hey! Thanks for caring!

I actually like your horror better than your cyberpunk/sci-fi stuff. I'm just more interested in cyberpunk/sci-fi stuff than horror (Although I've started to read HP Lovecraft's works and I'm really enjoying them. You've managed to capture the tension of Lovecraft in your own works; something that I've just picked up on)

Anyway, I really enjoy your work and will enjoy anything you'll put out, though I will say, I would prefer some horror or something new rather then new episodes of Afternow.  The best thing to do, I'd say, would be to produce whatever you like (Though I don't think you of all people need me to tell you this).

Now please excuse me. I've got to go find somewhere to hide from the others for encouraging you to produce something other than Afternow. Thanks to you, they're rather hard to shake off.

The beauty of Sean's work is that it is based on perception, his perception. This perception is how he views the world/ his surroundings at any given time.
As we all know time changes and people change with it, but Sean has a way of seeing what few can see and understanding what many will never know. Sean is living the adventure of life along with many of us. If you look at TFTAN/TWHC it could be perceived as reality, just like any fiction could be. But what I really like about these works is, they get you thinking and opening up your mind to new possibilities and for a Wog that's never bad thing.
Those who are on these forums probably already understand what this means. To those that don't, keep an open mind. Many things in life are more real than they appear.

Hey,

So I figured I post this here instead of starting my own thread.

I liked TWHC so much I wrote my own series.

I've got episode 1 recorded, it's a little rough but it's supposed to be, you'll find out why as the season progresses.

Linkage:

EDIT:

Episode 2 is up.
