Here's is what I think you're talking about, Streamjacker...

I'm sure there's other utilities out there by now since that program is five years old. ;-)

You may want to try this out: http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/
Seems like an OK program, but idk for sure as I haven't used it. Tongue

Awesome! thats the one...thanx Cimm.

I'll be running it on an older system and it doesn't like some of the newer ripping software, it starts to lag, streamjacker is small and requires little memory so it runs perfectly on that box.

Thanks fire_missionary, I'll try that one on my lappy

Streamjacker is only small on memory at first. It has some leaks, and will consume about 64M/day. Streamripper is probably a better choice. I wrote streamjacker in a total of about 40 hours, as an exercise to learn python/WX.

StationRipper by Ratajik Software is the Cadillac of streamrippers. It uses the streamripper engine, however it organizes the streams very well.  I've got a really old version of the demo which doesn't limit you to 4 streams. =)

For ripping audio streams i just switch Audacity to record on "Wave" and it does a perfect job.  You can then edit the result to make CD's.  Really good for recording streamed concerts so you can chop them up by each tune into tracks for ya CD.

And if you know how to turn your internal speakers on your laptop to record without much hardware finickery, you might be able to record just about any thing that might come across them.

That's exactly what Audacity does.  Anything going through the system can be tapped into and recorded, you just need to set the correct source on Audacity.  I haven't found anything that i haven't been able to record so far.

Any sound that goes through my computer can be recorded on Audacity.  At least, i've yet to find one that can't be.

Just don't tell the copyright holders.   Wink

:-) Its obvious if someone's cell is recording or someone is recording in some other form.

But there are a few special WOGS out there that can do that special concert recording.
