I am glad I had the chance to be changed by Rantradio. I am sure there will be various archives, but its a bit shocking to think about. My only regret will be that I wish I was more involved and less on the fringes. Thats life and I am very grateful for what I experienced.

I misread the top post about the video being near wrapped up.

Also happy birthday to you. Don't forget to cash in on free birthday stuff/discounts; bars, coffee shops, art supplies or military surplus stores?

Comment before editing;

Cimm,

I look forward to hearing more about the passion you spend so much time on.

Sorry for delayed response, life happens.

Good to hear your on twitch and still working on projects. I followed and sub'd and that bell notifation.  I will poke into twitch as time allows.

Despite growing up in the 90s and 2ks Most of these retro games I have never heard of, its good that they are being brought into discussion and entertainment.

Expect typos.

Again thanks for the post MikeTheMugger, who posted the video in discord about Issac Arthur's Cyborg https://youtu.be/cGYKCTFIZLI

Truthfully, I didn't finish the video. My patience ended at (12:37) but at the risk of sounding arrogant, the ideas presented up to where I stopped watching I already had a sense for the topic and warranted some comment on the subject. What existing augment that is available and become available doesn't really interest me, rather as time marches on, the social adoption of, the scope of behavior  and scale of usage does and how will people react to such changes.

I agree with Issac in that finding a working clarification for what is and what is not a cyborg to important to understand a few reasons, one being how to relate to someone who has had a body altering change that could impact a persons personalty, example being force multiplication (strength, endurance or memory) to challenge existing social mores, Another could be accommodations for harmful reactions that could occur to someone who is not entirely unmodified due to age or attempting to regain some lost vitality. Mentioned briefly in the video was the mosquito ultra frequency noise against young people, loitering and crowd disbursement.

Theoretically Someone who had a loss of range of hearing (frequency) later regained it after some implant, treatment or surgery now has to live with a unwanted hearing intrusion in their senses just like the young people.  Do the people affected by the mosquito noise have a reasonable claim against those who would use it against them with malicious intent exploiting a vulnerability? I am not moving the goal posts on the subject but I think that those who have some change and those who have not changes to their respective bodies are intimately effected by those who do and the creeping impact, specifically the legal protections that can be enforced and the threat of force should such protection be ignored.

The last idea that would be important to mention would be the adoption of laws (or change of laws and punishment case by case basis) that govern what should done about whom had committed a crime while having been augmented/enhanced. Lance Armstrong who during his career as a cyclist, raced the Tour De France, de Luxenbourg and DuPont races 1993 - 1998, did win the races the he participated in and was later banished from cycling for blood doping i.e Juicing. His record of achievement no longer remembered for his violation of the rules.  Here I find the line between chemical and technological improvement to be at a cross roads where I don't have a hard and fast universal perspective on what I consider to make a distinction between lawful or unlawful for what is taboo and what is progress that has the real potential to improve the lives of everyone and for those who want to compete.

Hey gang,

I just found this link on Reddit today which directed me to; http://thehackernews.com/2017/05/athena-cia-windows-hacking.html

I was surprised by the steps the United States Government (CIA)  has been taking to invade the privacy of its citizens and possibly others abroad and that the Athen/Hera program has been designed to circumvent Anti-Virus heuristics, specifically Kaperski. To me it is not unreasonable to think other Anti-Virus software tools would be possibly be included in this evasion.

Link above includes further links to Overview, usage and demonstration.

Putting on my tin-foil-hat, other than maybe strange behavior on the infected PC (input lag, upload spikes, or unaccounted CPU usage) it would not possible to use conventional and assumed trusted tools to detect or remove the trespassing software? (McAfee or Symantec etc..) I wonder about mid-level business or Enterprise software as well that would be a target for these attacks such as Quickbooks or Apropos. Maybe the tools are flexibly designed to target both, business and individuals, more reading required and time to reconsider re-installing a flavor of Linux.

I am almost certain that Executive personnel at Microsoft would have some knowledge of is and would be colluding to continue what ever tenuous relationship avoiding circumventing the public at large.

It is not clear where Microsoft's incentive would be to push out a patch to a publicly unknown vulnerability or face possible  some classified obstruction of justice from the CIA. I do wonder who is going to pay more in the long term the Government or its User base?

300 Hours of WTH!? I have such a back catalog of media, my eyes will bleed. Cimm, I love you (no homo). If I watch apporx 8 hours every day, it would be a month and a week. NOooooooo!!! I think 3 hours sounds more reasonable.. I loved time with Rant and the various venues, upside I/we can see the humble beginnings of our beloved Sean and his path taken into experimental storytelling and hear names not spoken in many years.

Again, Cimm thank you. you are a real treasure.

My younger self would have never imagined that some duder ranting about "...don't kill yourself, kill other people..."(in jest?), "tactical high speed underwear", having your legs cut off and fashioned into a wet wire relay for a sadistic underground dungeon, would visit me ever so often years after first hearing it.

I have a small place in my heart for Rant right next to the unicorn feeding station, that will remain for many years to come or as long as my rainbow supplier still gives bulk discounts.

Long live Rantradio.

General Discussion / Re: Men Going There Own Way
January 13, 2017, 05:38:22 PM
I don't consider myself part of a MGTOW cult or have extremist views. but something that has not mentioned so far is hypergamy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypergamy) which is essentially dating/marring to upgrade resources and status.

Hypergamy gives me pause and invokes thought. My views on this topic have not crystallized yet. But I do think about my dating/marrying prospects with this idea in mind.

Am I saying one gender is guilty of hypergamy, no. But the effect is real and even if it doesn't effect yourself, it effects someone you know. As does hypogamy, but I would consider this is less important as unless there is a difference in resources (income or estate) or relationship connections. IMO a person would only date/marry some equal/similar or superior to themselves and not marry/date down.

Food for for thought. a video from the late youtuber (maybe doxxed or other reason, channel no longer exists) by CS MGTOW

Meet Mark - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF3zYWSSSW0  -- breakes down some numbers about dating and marriage. I am submitting this video is as informational and not intended to paint one sex worse than the other. While it is not said specifically, it can be applied to both.

My first thought is that, once the physical copy is destroyed any chance to reproduce from the original is gone.

Related but unrelated, when I was dog/house-sitting for my ex-Boss (she was on vacation) Years ago, She had an enormous cassette collection taking up the better part of two walls from floor to ceiling, I didn't bother to count, but then a thought occurred to me, it would be a pain to move and reorganize all this stuff.

I can only imagine the hassle of carting around a ton of tapes to place to place ever few years. While I do admire you Cimm for your efforts and diligence, I do not envy the position you are in. All the stuff I own can be fit into a closet and I don't expect that to change.

Now, the State of  the Station, The only organization that I know of would that may archive Station's content is the Internet Archive (archive.org) I don't know the details but if media is being stored from a variety of sources and mediums, they may be willing to do the same, but like what you have mentioned, they could just convert  the VHS to digital and destroy the originals as well. Maybe send them a email and see what they say?

In any case, a Backup for backup would be best.

I am surprised that Time enough for love hasn't been mentioned (I searched, but couldn't find any posts) The first of Robert's books that I have read. In a weird way, Lazerous (main protagonist) deals with the issue of out living people. Think vampires, but without the macabre baggage. Also finding motivation when crippling apathy has run its course.  10/10 highly recommended.

Gaming Discussion / Skyrim and mods
January 04, 2017, 04:52:22 PM
I don't know who among the Rant crowd plays Skyrim, but In addition to the mods found on nexus.com. One stands out, Enderal, a complete reimaginging and total overhaul of what Skyrim's engine can do, community created, fully voiced acted, free and has slightly higher system requirements.  http://enderal.com/

Hello everyone, long timer lurker, I have posted before, back in 2008. But not much in the way of introductions.

So briefly; 35, Male, Second year student (Was a Fine Art major, now Chemistry). Single, No children. Member of RantRadio Steam Group. Public Speaker and reluctant Atheist.

My first Rant Experience was hearing Smokey and Cimmerian laughing on RantRadio Talk that I found on Winamp's Shoutcast Directory. Listening to Rant's catalog is of the best unexpected surprises that has happen in my life.

I discovered Rantmedia, completely by accident. Like many others, I was in the Shoutcast directory many moons ago. I first heard Rantspeak, and was sad to hear that Cimm's and Smokehouse's show was ending.

And after hearing those two talk. I could not help but want to hear more, and in time.  I eventually followed suit and listened to most of WTH, SK:Radio show and SKTFM.tv...

Truth be told, it could not have come at a better time, after being sudo-brain washed from Job Corps. A clear voice with home spun cynicism and audio insanity involving crazy two headed cats. This is what the doctor ordered.

My Thanks. One more dead wall flower.
